A Hairstyle for Long Hair and Braids

Hello! This is Kirsten, and after the last post with pictures of me, we were asked if we could explain my hairstyle. We don't know if it is a 'real' hairstyle, but Nikki saw something similar once, and decided to do it her own way.:) I hope I can explain it properly, because it is quite hard to describe. We took pictures, to make it easier.:)

First, part the hair in the middle all the way down the back, if it is not already parted. A comb helps a lot to get it straight.:)
Then braid the hair on both sides, fairly tightly, and roughly just about the back of the ear. (But, if you are doing it on a person, you should probably start the braid right over the ear.:)) If you do not know how to braid, you divide the hair into three, and then take the left piece across the middle one. (It can be either side, but I am saying left just to explain. It is probably best to start with the piece closest to the face.) Now, the left piece is the 'middle' one (sorry if that does not make sense). Take the right piece, and put it over the 'middle' one. Now, what was originally left is 'right', what was middle is 'left', and what was right is 'middle'. Now do the same over again and again, taking the pieces in their new places as if that is where they have started (if that makes sense to you).

Braid the hair as far down as you can, and put a small rubber band (or hairband) on the end. (It doesn't have to be braided quite as far down as in the picture; mine is very even on this side, so it can go all the way down.)

When you have done both sides, twist them around and balance a ribbon at their roots, then pull the one braid over the head, holding it there on that side. (On a person, you might have to do this slightly differently.:))

Keep that braid over the head (you might need a hairpin or something like that to do it), but do not tie it down properly. Then you take the second braid and pull it over, crossing it over the first one right by its beginning.

Pull it down and hold it there, then use your other hand to tie the ribbon around into a single knot around both braids. (Nikki needed a little help from her lips though.;))

Now go back to the other braid and take out the hairpin, if you used one. Hold it down next to the beginning of the tied one, but almost under it. Now tie the ribbon like the first one.

Make sure it is tight, and then tie a bow with the ends. Do the same thing with the other ribbon.

On the first side, tuck the braid-ends under the other hair, behind the ear. It is quite hard to get right. On a person, it might be better to just pin them down.:)

On the other side, do basically the same thing, except it is more behind the ear than under the hair.:)

Now you are done!:) I hope you have fun with this hairstyle!

Pictures of Kirsten!:)

Yay!! We finally found Nikki's camera!:) (This is Elyssa, by the way.) She took some lovely pictures of Kirsten last night.

Kirsten's all dressed up, with her doll, Rebecca. I really like her dress.:) The bonnet is actually a sunhat, and Nikki pinned ribbons onto it.:P

With the bonnet off.:) Nikki did Kirsten's hair in a new way. She says it took her hours, but I think it was really only about 30 minutes.

I think close ups make Kirsten look so pretty!:)

This one isn't so yellow, so I picked it over the yellow version, but I think the other one actually looks better. Never mind.:P

This is her hairstyle. I would try to explain how to do it, but it's kind of confusing to get it right.

This one's so pretty! It also has a yellower version, but this time it didn't look right.:P

This one's also lovely!

I'm sorry this one is so yellow.:P It's nice anyway, though, I think.:)

Another close up. I think these are the nicest pictures I've seen of Kirsten.:)

Sleeping beauty...;)

I hope you like the photos!:)
Did you know we found the camera just after posting about losing it? Lol, it was under some junk that we and Nikki had checked a thousand times. It took her dad to find it in the end.:P

Sorry...:P

Hello! This is Lindsay, and I just wanted to apologize for all of us, because we haven't posted much lately. It's mostly because Nikki's camera has disappeared (like it did after Christmas, except this time it's not her dad's fault), so we can't take any pictures. We're desperate to take some, but we can't.:P So, I'm sorry, but there probably won't be any more posts until we find the camera. If you'd like, we could use some recent pictures of Cindy, though, but they're mostly not very good. Also, if anyone could guess where the camera might be, we'd be very grateful. If it helps for ideas, Nikki last used it to take some comedy pictures of Elyssa in the lounge after we did the gymnastics ones.:)

Gymnastics in the House!:)

Hiya! It's Elyssa, and Nikki finally fixed my leotard a few days ago.:) Last night, I decided to try out some of my gymnastics moves inside!

The splits!:) Actually, it was soooo hard to stay like this while Nikki took a good photo.

More splits!:)
Ta-da! Uhhh, I think my leotard was slipping down my shoulder... Whoops!

Now I'm trying a somersault! But it's no big deal. I mean, even Nikki can do that.

And over I go... with my leg in the air... Oh, well!:P

And I'm up!:)

Cartwheel time!:) Now these, Nikki can't do!

Ta-da again!:)

Now, I'm doing a backwards somersault!:D But these aren't as cool as they used to be, now that Nikki can do them, too.

Almost over...

And done! Ha!:)

Now, I shall do a handstand! But... I can't stay up this way.:P

So, I leaned!:)

And, weird as this may look, it's me trying to get down, lol. It went wrong.:P

And, a final bow!:) Nikki made me do this, though. I'm not that proud.;)

Then she took a photo of me resting.:P She went photo-crazy yesterday because it was the first chance she got to use her camera properly. Her dad put it back in her room after borrowing on Boxing Day, and he put it in the wrong place. She didn't find it until New Year's, lol!
